Conversing the Kingdom: Waging War

1 Peter 2:11-12

In the west as Christians we are more likely to see our church as a social club for good people than a battlefield hospital with a mixture of sinners saved by grace and sinners yet to be saved by grace. We are in a war and this war is fought on three fronts. We need to be continually alert to the world and its systems, our own weak flesh and that of those around us and the devil and his schemes. The only way we can get through this life is to stick close to Jesus and walk in the Spirit using the armour that God has given to us: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the word of God, and prayer in the Spirit. We need to be constantly alert as opportunities and difficulties come upon us suddenly and often with no prior warning. Opportunities come and go quickly and difficulties fall suddenly and hit hard. We are at war, let us prepare each day in the truth of this reality.
